Obama to speak on global citizenship in Toronto

Former United States president Barack Obama is scheduled to speak on global citizenship at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on September 29.

The lunchtime event is hosted by Canada 2020, a non-profit,  Ottawa-based think-tank.

It will be Obama’s second visit to Canada since leaving the White House. Last June he spoke about local and global political engagement to a crowd of 6,000 in Montreal.

In his Montreal speech, Obama did not mention Trump by name but spoke about the ” temporary absence of American leadership” on climate change.

Obama is expected to answer questions from a moderator after his Toronto speech.
