New Delhi, October 6, 2009: Yahoo to fight Google in India, buys full page ad in Times of India.
Yahoo seems to have taken a few lessons
from recent reports that Google is way ahead of its rivals in major emerging economies.
A latest report on search engines and their use in emerging economies including India, Brazil and China had put Google years ahead of its rivals MSN and Yahoo. The report had said that the search engine giant is strengthening its position and entrenching itself for the long haul. The report had also predicted that the gap will further widen in favour of Google. This seems to have prompted Google to resort to advertisement campaign in leading Indian newspapers. There cannot be a better ad place than the front page ad in India’s largest circulated English daily, The Times of India. Yahoo reaches to 26 million internet users out of around 35 million users in the country and it wants to further improve its position in a fast emerging market like India.
