PORTLAND, Maine – The Boston Bruins updated the condition of Malcolm Subban after the goaltending prospect took a puck to his throat before his AHL game Saturday night in Portland.
Malcolm Subban, of Caribbean heritage, “was struck in the throat with a puck Saturday night during pregame warmups. He was transported to Maine Medical Centre and was diagnosed with a fractured larynx,” reads the update.
“He stayed overnight at Maine Medical Centre and was transported to Mass General Hospital on Sunday for further evaluation. He is in stable condition and will be sidelined indefinitely.
“The team will provide additional details when they become available.”
Subban was drafted by the Bruins 24th overall in 2014. He is the brother of Monttreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban and Jordan Subban, a defenceman in the Vancouver Canucks organization.
Malcolm is 14-8-5 in 27 appearances this season with the Providence Bruins with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.
