Jamaican artistes sing for Haiti

In response to the crisis caused by the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti, Jamaica's music fraternity has come together in an unprecedented show of solidarity for a historic recording titled “Listen2theCall. The song project premiered on Tuesday February 23, at 4:53pm Haiti time with a Global Media Simulcast that was planned to coincide with the earthquake's sixth week anniversary and commemorate the victims and survivors of the killer quake.

 

Produced by Handel Tucker, Listen2theCall features several of Jamaica’s greatest talents including Sly & Robbie, Beres Hammond, Maxi Priest, Barrington Levy, Beenie Man, Toots (of Toots and the Maytals), Marcia Griffiths, Diana King, Luciano, Tarrus Riley, TOK, Cherine Anderson, Alaine, Wayne Marshal, Gramps Morgan, Junior Reid, Junior Kelly, Nadine Sutherland, Pam Hall, Chevelle Franklyn, Una Morgan, Jenieve Bailey, Carlene Davis, Suzanne Couch, Terry Lynn, Brian Gold and dub poet Mutabaruka.

A special four minute and fifty three second acoustic mix of “Listen2theCall” will launch the remix project and profits from the sale of the song project will go to benefit the relief and rehabilitation effort in Haiti. The song, video and ringtones became available for download at www.llisten2thecall .com http://www.llisten2 thecall.com/ as of 5:00pm on Tuesday, February 23 and the remix album will be available on iTunes after release by Spring 2010.
