Free Black History Month concerts

As Black History Month is celebrated this month, there will be a series of free concerts every Friday night at the Gladstone Melody Bar on Queen Street West, Toronto.

 

The organizer of the concert, Music Africa, the presenters of Afrofest, a community organization dedicated towards promoting African music and culture is teaming up with Gladstone World to join in celebration of Blacks in Canada

Cameroon native living in Toronto, Fojeba will kick off the series this Friday followed by Nigeria-born songwriter, singer and actress Sonia Aimy. On February 17 WaleedAbdulhamid, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, vocalist, producer, educator, film maker and humanitarian will team up with Eritrean natïve , Daniel Nebiat, known for performing traditional songs and singing in his language, Tigrigna.

The month long series concludes on February 24 with the young stars night featuring Yusra Khogali (Sudan) - Poet, Spoken word Artist, Run's T (Nigeria) - Musician, Hip Life, Quabena Maphia (Ghana) - Afro Jazz and onto) – RapJae Baz (Nigeria) - Hip Life.
