An Ottawa man viciously beaten in a Peterborough bar last Thursday morning died after he was taken off life support on Sunday night.

Stevenson Auguste, 41, was kept alive long enough for his mother and daughter to arrive from St Lucia to

say goodbye.

Auguste, who also has a wife and two young sons in Ottawa, was struck in the head during a brawl an hour after he asked his friends to give him a drive home from a strip club in Peterborough.

Peterborough police Sgt. Neil Collins said police are still investigating and don't know how many people

in the bar were involved but are looking to speak with witnesses.

"I can't certainly say it was everyone in the bar," Collins said on Sunday, contradicting an earlier police statement that most, if not all, of the bar's patrons were involved in the incident.

There's no word as to whether charges will be laid.

His brother-in-law Shawn Barnes said he was clinically dead since he arrived at the hospital.

Barnes said he's concerned because the police haven't shared much information with the family.

Auguste's daughter is 18, while his sons are two and four years old.
