Guyana now has its first casino in the South American country.
The Princess Hotel, owned by the Princess Group, opened its doors over the weekend at a cost of over US$2 million. Director of Operations for Princess Casinos in the Americas Oguz Tayanc emphasized that the establishment would be run within the confines of the law, permitting only guests of the hotel and foreigners to use it.
It will be open from from midday to 4 a.m. Princess Hotel replaced Buddy`s International Hotel which was bought by the group in 2008 at a price of US$15 million.
Guyana recently legalized casino gambling.
