Popular Caribbean website Toronto-Lime.com is no more.

The site’s founder and president, Jef Lo, announced earlier this week that he was pulling the site off after 16 years.

Lo explained that he was giving up the site, often touted as the number one Caribbean entertainment website, because it was “time to move on.”

"In the initial start-up, the mission was to give Caribbean content a place on the worldwide web. Back in 1996, the only information that would appear in a search engine for the keywords 'Soca/Calypso' was about Harry Belafonte. Over the years toronto-lime.com has inspired many to post their knowledge and content online. Today there’s nothing Caribbean you cannot Google. I think I've reached my goal."
When asked if this was a move to early retirement, Lo said, "Business was good, but not that good." According to. Lo, his immediate plans are to take some time off before returning to his other business (Soca Bookings), where his focus will now lie in artist management and public relations.
The site is now officially off-line.

In the meantime, those who depended on the website to either advertise their events, or find out what’s happening in Toronto, are invited to visit www.thecaribbeancamera.com and click on “Events” to upload their content at no cost. Users can also visit the same page to view the content.
