Two dollars from every ticket sold for this year's Soca Monarch and Groovy Monarch
competitions in Trinidad will be donated to earthquake-stricken Haiti.
The two shows are the biggest to be held in Trinidad annually in the run up to the Carnival season, which will be celebrated this year on February 15 & 16.
At a news conference on Monday, Caribbean Prestige's vice-president, Tony Lee, said $2 from every ticket sold would be donated to Haiti:
"So we want you to come out on Fantastic Friday (the Friday before carnival), enjoy the world's greatest soca spectacle and, at the same time, give to the people of Haiti, they really need help," Lee, a radio deejay, said.
Forty finalists will take part in the Soca competition, while 42 will compete in the Groovy competition.
The reigning Monarch in both competitions is Faye Ann Lyons, who said she is ready to defend her titles.
The semifinal rounds of the competitions are scheduled to take place on January 24.
