The
Canadian Black Caucus is hosting the second part of its launch on June 29 at the St Lawrence Hall.
The Black Caucus works with the school boards, community centers, churches and youth groups to get more young people involved in mainstream political youth associations, volunteering on campaigns and conducting workshops to help educate them participate in the political process.
It is also the group’s goal to work with the school boards to organize a CBCaucus youth council, resulting in young political leaders representing schools across the GTA. The young people who attended the launch were moved and motivated by all the encouragement and stories shared by our political presenters.
Part One of the launch was held in May last year, and Part 2 starts at 7 p.m., and will focus on reaching out to young professionals and adults as it is vital to encourage this generation to run with the torch of community service and outreach. The event is open to the community at large to people of all ages.
At the event, there will be award presentations to Lincoln Alexander, 1st black male MP; Jean Augustine 1st black female MP, Zanana Akande first black female MPP, Leonard Braithwaite first black male MPP, Alvin Curling, Former Speaker of the Ontario Legislature.
