The Greenes
Peter and Murium Green say they need to return to Tobago for the trial to “put ghosts to bed”.
The couple were speaking after 25-year-old Clint Nigel Alexis reappeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court in Tobago last week charged with attempted murder. The case was adjourned until May.
Talking from their St John’s Close home, the couple recalled the horrific morning on August 1 last year when a man strolled into the garden of their Bacelot villa and savagely attacked them while they were napping.
Green, 65, who had flown to Tobago for two weeks in the sun prior to starting treatment for prostate cancer, had his skull cracked open, his cheekbones fractured and several teeth smashed from the attack.
He now suffers limited vision in his left eye after the knife cut out his cornea and struggles to walk unaided due to nerve damage. His 59-year-old wife who has multiple sclerosis, had both cheekbones and eye sockets smashed and her jaw detached.
Speaking of her decision to return, she said: “I’ve got to stand there and look at that man. It’s not fair that these awful thoughts are in my head.” Mr Green said: “I’m petrified about going back.
Before I get on a plane I’ll need the Tobago government to tell me what security we’ll have when we return.”
